Bellport Youth Lacrosse  -  Parent Code of Conduct

What we expect from Parents:

  1. To support and encourage your daughter/son as she/he participates in Bellport Youth Lacrosse;  I understand that my role as a parent is critical to the success of my son.

  1. To support team play and not be overly concerned with the individual performance of your child.

  1. To let the coach do the teaching/coaching, to respect the coach’s decisions, and to save all questions and comments regarding the activity or participants for a time when the atmosphere is conducive to problem solving. I will not approach or contact the coach within 48 hours before or after a game or a Tournament.  If you feel you have a concern that cannot wait 48 hours you can contact the Board of Directors.

  1. To be a positive role model for my child and to refrain from public displays of anger.

  1. To accept officials’ decisions and understand that verbal abuse or harassment of an official could be detrimental to my son, the activity, the team, and the league.

  1. To watch the action away from the players’ benches and on the opposite side of the field, during practices and games.

  1. To cheer good plays made by either team.

  1. To respect the game of lacrosse. Respect the officials. Respect the coaches, who give their time for the benefit of the athletes.

  1. To not coach players, including your child, from the sidelines. Let players play and coaches coach, and support both positively.

  1.  To emphasize the FUN of the game and the team, putting forth effort at all times, not wins and losses.

  1. To NEVER criticize players regardless of the circumstance.

  1. To be good sports on and off the field and not participate in any conduct, including foul and  abusive language and/or gestures, taunting, fighting, trash talking, boastful celebration, damage to property or belongings, or any other conduct that reflects poorly on yourself or Bellport Youth Lacrosse.

Bellport Youth Lacrosse reserves the right to take appropriate disciplinary actions in the event that any of the above policies are not adhered to.  Repeated violation can carry a penalty up to and including suspension of the parent(s) for the season.

In signing this policy statement, I agree to adhere to the policies above.
